Resolve with Respect!

Ethics & Neutrality Policy

The Ethics & Neutrality Policy of SYSCO180 establishes the foundational standards governing the conduct of arbitrators, mediators, conciliators, negotiators, panel members, institutional officers, and all persons engaged in dispute resolution under the SYSCO180 framework. The policy is designed to uphold the highest principles of integrity, independence, impartiality, transparency, and professional responsibility, ensuring trust and confidence in the dispute resolution process.

Independence and Impartiality

All neutrals appointed under SYSCO180 must be independent of the parties and free from any actual, potential, or perceived conflict of interest. Mandatory disclosures are required prior to and throughout the proceedings, and any circumstance that may give rise to justifiable doubts regarding neutrality must be promptly disclosed and addressed in accordance with institutional procedures.

Neutral Conduct and Fair Treatment

Neutrals are required to act without bias or favour, ensure equal treatment of parties, and provide each party a fair opportunity to present its position. Decisions, facilitation, or guidance must be based solely on the merits of the matter, applicable law, and principles of fairness.

Confidentiality and Professional Integrity

Strict confidentiality obligations apply to all proceedings, communications, documents, and outcomes. Information obtained during the course of arbitration, mediation, or conciliation must not be disclosed or used for any purpose other than the resolution of the dispute, except where disclosure is mandated by law.

Prohibition of Improper Influence

Neutrals and institutional personnel must not solicit, accept, or permit any form of improper influence, inducement, or advantage that could compromise independence or credibility. Any attempt to influence proceedings must be reported and addressed promptly.

Competence and Due Diligence

Neutrals are expected to undertake assignments only within their areas of competence and to conduct proceedings with due diligence, professionalism, and respect for timelines and institutional rules.

Enforcement and Accountability

SYSCO180 maintains mechanisms for review, challenge, and disciplinary action in cases of ethical breach or violation of neutrality standards. Institutional oversight ensures accountability while preserving the independence of neutrals.
